Washer Door Doesn’t Open

Usually, the washer door won’t open while the water drum is filling, but what if it still won’t open after the filling is complete? To begin with, try starting a new cycle on your washing machine; this should empty it and let you open the door. Next, make sure there isn’t a blockage by inspecting the drain and filter (see for handling blockages).

If you’re washing load after load, it’s also possible that your washing machine has overheated. Your appliance may continue to operate normally even after it overheats, but the washing machine sensor will prevent the door from opening. Fortunately, overheating is typically a self-correcting issue. Just wait for your appliance to cool down before using it.

try the door again.

If a blockage or overheating isn’t the problem, and your door won’t open even when there is no water in it, it could be caused by a faulty door switch or the control board. These internal elements will need to be checked by a technician
